Head & Neck Surgery
Dr Bridger is a senior head and neck surgeon at the Prince of Wales hospital with extensive experience in Head and Neck and Thyroid surgery.
Head and neck surgery is a subspecialty area of Otolaryngology. Head and neck surgeons manage both benign and malignant tumours of the upper aerodigestive tract (sinuses, oral cavity, pharynx and larynx), salivary glands (parotid, submandibular and sublingual), thyroid and parathyroid glands. Surgery of the head and neck is complex and demands specialised training.
Dr Bridger has had extensive training in head and neck surgery including a fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York with Professor Mark Urken who is widely regarded as a leader in this field.
Dr Bridger is himself a senior head and neck surgeon at the Prince of Wales hospital in Randwick and has been a key member of the Head and Neck multidisciplinary unit at that hospital since 2000. This Unit sees patients from all over New South Wales and internationally with complex and difficult head and neck tumours.
Dr Bridger worked with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, speech pathologists, dieticians and nursing staff in the management of these patients using state-of-the-art techniques to achieve outcomes which compare very favourably with those of other leading international units around the world.
